Scope of This Document 
This document discusses system configuration issues related to the use of the Intel® Chipset 
Software Installation Utility for the Intel® 810 chipset family, the Intel® 815 chipset family, the 
Intel® 820 chipset family, the Intel® 840 chipset, the Intel® 850 chipset, the Intel® 860 chipset 
and the Intel® Ultra ATA Storage Driver for Windows* 98, Windows 98 Second Edition (SE), 
Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Windows 2000, and Windows NT* 4.0. 
The issues discussed in this guide are only relevant to systems using the Intel® 810, Intel® 
810E, Intel® 810E2, Intel® 815, Intel® 815E, Intel® 815EP, Intel® 815P, Intel 820, Intel® 820E, 
Intel 840, Intel® 850, and Intel® 860 chipsets and Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition 
(SE), Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0 (any Service 
Pack). Please note that the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility and the Intel Ultra ATA 
Storage Driver does NOT support Beta or pre-released versions of Windows operating 
systems. 
Most of the issues contained in this document are related to either software configuration or 
hardware integration. Intel is not responsible for the software written by third party vendors or 
the implementation of Intel components in the products of third party manufacturers.

To determine which version of Windows is installed on your computer, complete the following
