OPERATION
OPERATING THE PRUNER
  DANGER:
Never cut near electric cords or lines. If blade jams
on any electrical cord or line, DO NOT TOUCH THE
BLADE! IT CAN BECOME ELECTRICALLY LIVE AND
VERY DANGEROUS. Continue to hold the pruner by the
handle or lay it down and away from you in a safe manner.
Disconnect the electrical service to the damaged line or
cord before attempting to free the blade from the line or
cord. Contact with the blade, other conductive parts of
the pruner, or live electric cords or lines will result in death
by electrocution or serious injury.
  WARNING:
Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all
objects such as cords, lights, wire, or loose string which
can become entangled in the cutting blade and create a
risk of serious personal injury.

 WARNING:
Read the safety information for safe operation using the
blade. Extreme care must be taken when using blades to
ensure safe operation. Refer to General Power Tool Safety
Warnings and Pruner Safety Warnings
.
CUTTING TIPS
Be certain the blade is securely installed before inserting
the battery pack. Check it periodically for tightness to
avoid serious injury.
Wear non-slip gloves for maximum grip and protection.
  Never stand directly under the limb you are cutting.
Do not attempt to cut limbs, stems or twigs that are larger
than 1-1/2 in. thick, or those obviously too large to feed
into the cutting blade. Use a non-powered hand saw,
pruning saw, or chain saw to trim larger limbs or branches.
  Stand so that you are stable and balanced on both feet and
never use on a ladder, roof top, or other unstable support.
  Never use the pruner near power lines, fencing, posts,
buildings, or other immovable objects.
  If the blade become jammed, release the switch trigger,
allow the blade to stop, and remove the battery pack
before attempting to free the blade.
  Maintain a proper grip on the unit whenever the switch
trigger is depressed.
MAKING A CUT
See Figures 5 - 6.
  WARNING:
Do not place your second (support) hand on the front
housing under shoe assembly when operating the pruner
two-handed.  Keep the second hand on top of the pruner
housing as illustrated in this operator’s manual.  Placing
your support hand on the front housing under the shoe
assembly could cause it to slip into the blade, resulting
in serious personal injury.
Hold the pruner firmly in front of and clearly away from
you.
Make sure blade is clean of any debris or foreign material.
Depress the lock-out button, then pull switch trigger to
start the cutting action.
Place the shoe assembly against the work, then move
the blade into the work.
Do not force.
Use only enough pressure to keep the pruner cutting. Let
the blade and tool do the work. Use of excessive pressure
that causes bending or twisting of the blade may result
in broken blades.
The pruner is designed for one-handed use. However,
for operator comfort and preference, the pruner may be
used two-handed by placing one hand lightly atop the
pruner as shown.
Do not hold the pruner with your hand on the underside
of the tool, near the saw blade.
