Installing An Expansion Card Into The Expansion-Card Riser 2 and 3
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform 
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or 
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your 
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
1.
Unpack the expansion card and prepare it for installation.
For instructions, see the documentation accompanying the card.
2.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and 
peripherals.
3.
Open the system.
4.
Remove the expansion-card riser cage by sliding the black handle in the direction of the blue arrows and then lift 
the riser straight up.
5.
Remove the expansion-card latch holding the expansion-card.
6.
Holding the card by its edges, position the card so that the card-edge connector aligns with the expansion-card 
connector.
7.
Insert the card-edge connector firmly into the expansion-card connector until the card is fully seated.
8.
Insert the expansion-card latch.
9.
If applicable, connect any cables to the expansion card.
10. Install the expansion-card riser.
11. Close the system.
12. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.
13. Install any device drivers required for the card as described in the documentation for the card.
NDC Riser (I/O Riser 1)
The NDC riser is a half-length, full-height card installed in a dedicated PCIe slot on the system board. It has an x16 PCIe 
connector (reverse orientation).
The NDC riser supports:
A standard rNDC connector, which plugs One Dell standard Network Daughter Card
IDSDM connector
A temperature sensor
A chassis intrusion switch
Removing The NDC Riser (I/O Riser 1)

1.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2.
Open the system.
3.
If applicable, disconnect the external and internal cables connected to the IO card.
4.
If applicable, remove the left expansion card riser.
5.
Locate the NDC riser (on PCIe slot 2).
