A very convenient and powerful feature built into the Personal Handset is
the ability to record a sequence of your commands, and replay them with
a single key press. For example, you could record the commands to select
the television and display a particular teletext page as a single key. The
sequence of commands is called a macro, and you can keep up to ten
different macros for your most frequently-used operations. Some practical
examples of using macros are given at the end of this section.
Record a macro like this
Press the LEARN key to indicate that you want the Personal Handset
to learn a macro.
The LEARN indicator will be illuminated.
Press the MACRO key to learn a macro.
The MACRO indicator will also be illuminated.
Press a numeric key to assign a number to the macro you want to
learn.
For example, to assign a macro to key 5 press 5.
The LEARN indicator will flash slowly to show that the Personal Handset
is ready to learn commands.
Any keys you now press will be recorded in the macro.
For example, you might press TEXT, 1, 2, 3 to select Teletext page 123. As
you press each command the macro indicator will blink once.
Finally save the macro you have learnt by pressing the LEARN key.
Both the LEARN and MACRO indicators will now turn off showing that
the macro has been saved.
Each macro can remember up to ten commands. If you enter nine
commands the LEARN and MACRO indicators will flash slowly to warn
you that the macro is nearly full. When you enter a tenth command the
macro will be saved automatically.
Replay a macro like this
Press the MACRO key followed by the number of the macro, for
example 5.
The MACRO indicator will flash rapidly as the commands are transmitted,
and at the end of the sequence it will turn off.
