COMPACT, USER-FRIENDLY DIGITAL CAMCORDERS:
NV-DS65 AND NV-DS60 FROM PANASONIC
Panasonic has released two new palm-style digital camcorders, ideal for families and
travellers.  The entry-level NV-DS60 is priced at $1319rrp, while the NV-DS65 - which
offers SD (Secure Digital) memory card still image recording - is $1539rrp.
Matthew Mannall, Strategic Marketing, Mobile Entertainment, Panasonic, said: “These new
models incorporate Panasonic’s popular and useful features that make shooting easier and
provide satisfying results – including our free-style remote control, Colour Night View,
zoom microphone and super image stabiliser.”
Key user-friendly features include:
  Recording on Mini DV tape
An 800,000-pixel CCD which provides superb image clarity to take full advantage of
the high-resolution capability of  the DV format
Panasonic’s ‘Free Style Remote Controller’ lets the user shoot from almost any
position, making it easy to take low-angle, high-angle and fixed-position shots.  The
remote control also puts the camera buttons right at your fingertips even when you’re
shifting the camera around or shooting with your other hand.
Progressive Photoshot. Image data is captured as a single field and temporarily
stored in two separate field memories.  The two images are then combined, resulting
in a 1.5 times increase in the vertical resolution of standard-recorded stills, achieving
a beautifully clear and brilliant picture.
The built-in LED video light can be switched on when illumination is insufficient.
Colour Night View provides images with colour even in dim lighting.
The two zoom microphones adjust automatically according to the zoom setting of the
lens.  ‘Tele’ mode provides high directionality to pick up sounds from distant
subjects.
‘Smart Wind Cut’ reduces wind noise when shooting outdoors with the built-in
stereo microphone.
