On-Screen Displays
The RDV-1080 displays a number interactive
screens on the TV monitor during normal op-
eration. Many of these screens are used to
set up preferences and activate advanced fea-
tures of the unit. These are described in de-
tail later in this manual.
This section gives an overview of the types of
On-Screen Displays which may appear and
a general guide to using them.
NOTE
The default language for all RDV-1080
On-Screen Displays can be changed. See the
Setting Preferences section of this manual.
Opening Screens
When the RDV-1080 is turned on, an Open-
ing Screen display generally appears on your
TV. For example, if no disc is inserted in the
player, the following screen appears with an
icon indicating that a disc needs to be inserted:
If a disc is inserted, the opening screen will
show a different icon indicating type of disc
(DVD Video, DVD Audio, Audio CD, etc.)
Display Screens
ON SCREEN Button
A number of menu screens can appear dur-
ing setup and operation of the RDV-1080 such
as the sample below:
These screens provide access to a range of
settings and features. They appear automati-
cally when certain remote control buttons are
pressed. In addition, they can be manually
activated by pressing the ON SCREEN but-
ton on the remote.
The On-Screen Displays are context-sensitive
– the specific screen depends on what kind
of disc is inserted and what the unit is doing.
For example, if you press the ON SCREEN
button with no disc inserted, a PREFERENCES/
SPEAKER SETUP screen is displayed allowing
you to make general settings. If you press the
ON SCREEN button while a DVD Video disc
is inserted, the screen provides options and
features related to playing DVD Video discs.
Details of these screens appear throughout this
manual.
