You can find the serial number by looking at the label at the back of the 

component.

Tape Drives

For most tape drives, the drive serial number is located on the top of the 

drive, just above where the tape is inserted. Sometimes, the Quantum 

sticker is located on the internal tape drive or on the bottom of the 

Quantum tabletop enclosure. 
 The serial number begins with a product prefix as displayed below.
