Whenyouhavedecideduponwhichmethodofconnectionyouwantandpositionedthesubwoofer(see
thechapter“PositioningLoudspeakers–HELICONS600/S600MK2”),youcancommencetheexciting
processofadjustingthesystem�Pleasenotethatpositioningthesubwooferwillhavealotofinfluence
onitscontributiontotheoverallsound�Ifforexample,thesubwooferispositionedinacorner,thebass
levelwillbemuchhigherthanifitispositionedmidwaybetweentwocorners(duetoacousticloadingof
thesubwoofer)�IfusingthesubwooferinconjunctionwiththeC200centerloudspeaker,thesubwoofer
shouldbepositionedsothattheC200canstandontopofthesubwoofer�

Thefollowingadjustmentmethodsarerecommendedto
achievethebestresults�Useapieceofmusicyouknow
well,andthatpreferablyincludesrhythmicbasssuchas
kettledrums,bassguitaretc�

Startwith"VOLUME"and"CROSSOVER"inthemiddle
ofthedial(12o’clock)�Turnthe"PHASE"switchtoposi-
tion180°,and"POWER"tothe"ON"position�

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

Adjustthevolumeofthesubwoofersothatthebassmatchesthelevelofthefrontspeakers�You
shouldbeabletoappreciatethesubwoofer’scontributiontothesound,withoutiteverbeingover-
powering�Bassmustbetightandaccurate,sothatthesubwooferreproducestheexactamountof
basspresentinthemusic/soundtrack,nomoreandnoless�Ifinstallingthesubwooferinasurround
soundsystem,itispracticaltoselectafixedlevelonthesubwooferandadjustsubwooferoutputus-
ingthesurroundamplifier'sset-upfunction�Ifbasslevelsaresettoohigh,distortionwillreducethe
qualityofyourlisteningexperience�Pleasenotethatthepositionofthesubwooferwillhavemajor
influenceonitssoniccontribution�

ADJUSTING THE CROSSOVER FREQUENCY

Oncethevolumelevelisadjusted,youcanstarttheequallyimportantadjustmentoftheoverlapbetween
thefrontloudspeakersandthesubwoofer�Todoso,adjustupanddownusing"CROSSOVER"untilyou
canhearthatthebassisevenandwithnodrop-out�Youmayhavetoadjustthevolumeagain�

SELECTING AUTO FUNCTION 

The "AUTO" function puts the subwoofer into standby after approx� 10 minutes with no signal
receivedattheinputs�Whenasignalispresentagainononeoftheinputs,thebuilt-insubwoofer
amplifierpowersupautomatically�The"POWER"buttonisthemainon/offswitch�Werecommend
switchingoffthesystemwhenitisnottobeusedforlongperiods�Whenconnectingorchanging
connections,alwaysdisconnectthemainselectricity�

erexclusivelyreproducingthelowfrequencies�Fromtheoutputsocket“LINEOUT-LEFT”ahighpass
filteredsignalmaybetapped,aswhenusingastereoconnection�Pleasenotethatthereisnosignal

availableonthe“LINEOUT-RIGHT”socket�

Connecting to a Lowpass Filtered Mono Signal
Whenusingthesubwooferwithasurroundamplifieror
otherequipmentwithaccesstoafilteredmonooutput
forsubwooferuse,itisadvantageoustoconnectthis
signaltothesubwoofer´sinputmarked“LFE”�Whenthe
subwooferisconnectedvia“LFE“,thesignalbypassesthe
crossovernetworkandgoesdirectlytotheamplifier�In
thissetup,thereisnosignalavailableattheoutput“LINE
OUT”�Anyadjustmentofthecrossoverfrequencytakes
placeelsewhereinthesystem,typicallythesurround

processor/amplifier�Pleasefollowtheinstructionsprovidedinthatcomponent’smanual�Whenusing
the“LFE”input,thelevelandphasecontrolsoftheS600arestillactiveandtheseshouldbeadjusted
