SPEAKER PLACEMENT
IMPORTANT: The Sonance Cinema Ultra II LCR Cabinet speaker weighs
35 lbs. Before placing it, make sure that the shelf or platform you’re
planning in putting it on is sturdy enough to support its weight.
Placing the Left & Right Speakers
• Place the left & right channel speakers on either side of the video
screen, anywhere from 6 feet to 10 feet apart and  3 – 4 feet from the
floor (which corresponds to the height of your ears when you’re seated
on a couch or chair). Use Illustration 4 and Illustration 5 as a guide.
• If you’re placing the speakers inside of an entertainment center or other
furniture, bring the speakers all the way to the fronts of the openings so
their front edges are even with the front edges of the furniture.
• The main listening position should be between 8 and 12 feet away from
the speakers.
Placing the Center Channel Speaker
• You can orient the center speaker horizontally or vertically. See
Orienting The Speaker for details.
• Locate the center speaker as close to the same height as the left & right
speakers as possible. This will help maintain consistent tonality
between all 3 front speakers.
• If you must place the center speaker above or below a video screen, we
recommend placing it no more than 2 feet above or below the
center of the left and right speakers. Use Illustration 4 and Illustration 5
as a guide.
Note: Bring the speaker to the front of the TV so its front edge is as even
with the front edge of the screen as is practical.
• If the center speaker is placed above or below ear level, angle it up or
down so it is aiming directly at the listeners. Use a pair of rubber door
stops or similar to elevate the speaker’s bottom edge as required.
Tweeter Level Adjustment
In most rooms Cinema Ultra II LCR Cabinet speakers will sound
best with the tweeter adjustment in the ‘Flat’ position. However, if the
speakers sound too bright in your room, set the Tweeter Level switch to
the ‘–3dB’ position. If the sound in your room is too dull, set the switch
to the ‘+3dB’ position. (See Illustration 3.)
Woofer Boundary Compensation Adjustment
Placing the Cinema Ultra II LCR Cabinet speaker on top of a TV or in a
book case can increase the speaker’s bass by as much as 6dB in the
65Hz – 200Hz range. This can affect the naturalness of music, and make
male voices sound thick and heavy. (You can determine this by playing
pink noise through the Left, Center and Right speakers and noting any
tonal differences between them.) If any of the speakers is affected this
way, set the Woofer Boundary Compensation switch to the ‘On’ position
to reduce its output in the 65Hz – 200Hz range. (See Illustration 3.)
CLEANING THE SPEAKER
Clean the cabinet with a damp cloth. Do NOT use liquid cleaners
or aerosol sprays, as they may permanently damage the finish. When
cleaning the baffle panel, be especially careful not to touch the speaker
drivers.
