6. Checking scanner status
When running Windows, ALWAYS turn on the
scanner before the computer. If you don't,
Windows will not be able to “see” your scanner.
1. Click StartSettings, and select Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the System icon in Control
Panel and select Device Manager from the top.
3. The screen that appears displays the message
“Microtek Scanners”. Double-click it, the
scanner model you connected shows under it.
If your system can’t find your scanner, maybe SCSI
conflict happens between your scanner and other
SCSI device. To resolve the conflict, refer to
Troubleshooting for Windows 95 on page 8.
Terminator
You will definitely need a terminator if you are
hooking up your PC on a daisy chain with two or
more SCSI devices through the SCSI interface card.
ArtixScan 2020 has a internal terminator switch
located at the back panel of the scanner.
Terminator is preset depending on your daisy
chain. In this case, set the terminator switch to the
“OFF” position; the third-party terminator should
be connected on the last SCSI device.
Note:  If your scanner is located at the last device, the
terminator switch should be in the “ON” position. In this
case, third-party terminator is not required.
The message
“Microtek
Scanners”
displays,
indicating the
scanner is
installed.
