Using The Transport Buttons
The transport buttons may defined in the same manner as any of the other programmable buttons in
Template Edit Mode. However, they are ideally suited to controlling sequencers or recording device.
Therefore, they can alternatively be assigned to transmit MIDI MMC (MIDI Machine Control) commands.
Each one of the 64 Template memories can hold its own set of definitions for these five buttons.
The details of assigning MMC to these buttons and the range of MMC commands available is described in
detail on page 32.
Some sequencers (such as Cubase) Use other types of MIDI message for remote control purposes such
as MIDI Note messages. The TRANSPORT buttons can of course be configured to transmit these instead
of MMC in the normal way. Consult your sequencer documentation for full details of the MIDI messages
used for remote control purposes.
The RECORD Button LED
The LED above the RECORD button provides a useful indication of the sequencer’s current record status.
It will light if the RECORD button is pressed and extinguish if the button is pressed again. Note : If the
RECORD button has no function assigned (it is assigned as No Control), the LED will not light.
If the PLAY button is pressed while the RECORD LED is lit, it will remain lit. If any other TRANSPORT but-
ton is pressed (REWIND, FAST FORWARD or STOP), the LED will extinguish.
Note : The RECORD button LED is controlled solely by the ReMOTE 25 for illustrative purposes. It is not
directly affected by an external sequencer. It is possible therefore, that it will not always correctly indicate
the ‘record’ status of a connected sequencer or recording device. Of course, this is especially true if the
RECORD button has been assigned a non-MMC MIDI function in a Template.
