that can lead to poor performance or loss of communication.
To prevent RF interference, avoid the following devices or situations:
Attaching UTP cable to AC power cables
Routing UTP cable near antennas, such as a Ham radio antenna
Routing UTP cable near equipment that could exhibit RF interference, such as:
ARC welding equipment
Electrical motors that contain coils
Air conditioner units
Electrical transformers
In areas or applications where these situations cannot be avoided, use fiber optic cabling or shielded 
twisted pair cabling (STP). 
NOTE
Because harmonics can appear on the neutral line of a typical three-phase power circuit, Extreme 
Networks recommends using a harmonics meter in new installations.
Making Network Interface Cable Connections
Use the appropriate type of cable to connect the ports of your switch to another switch or router. 
Working carefully, one port at a time, follow these steps:

Verify that you have identified the correct cable for the port.

Use an alcohol wipe or other appropriate cleaning agent to clean the cable connectors; make sure 
they are free of dust, oil, and other contaminants.

If you are using optical-fiber cable, align the transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) connectors with the 
correct corresponding connectors on the switch or the I/O module.
On the ATM and PoS modules, the transmit (Tx) connector on each port is the top connector.

Press the cable connectors into their mating connectors on the switch or I/O module until the cable 
connector is firmly seated.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the remaining cables on this or other switches or I/O modules.

Dress and secure the cable bundle to provide appropriate strain relief and protection against bends 
and kinks.
Meeting Power Requirements
