CHAT™ 150 Q&A

Q:  What is the Chat 150?
A:  The Chat 150 is a speaker phone accessory designed for personal and small group use. It connects as an audio
peripheral to telephone handsets, PCs, and video conferencing systems for crystal-clear hands-free communications.

Q:  How does the Chat 150 fit into ClearOne’s product line?
A:  ClearOne defined the personal conferencing category with the introduction of the Chat 50. The Chat 150 builds on
that success and introduces audio performance comparable to our MAX® tabletop conference phone at a very
attractive price. It fits between the Chat 50 and our MAX line of conference phones in terms of price and room
coverage.

Q:  How can the Chat 150 be used?
Many ClearOne customers have expressed a desire to have a high-performance speaker phone in their executive
office or boardroom that would complement the capabilities of the telephone handset, PC-based VoIP softphone, or
video conferencing system. Chat 150 delivers these capabilities so that customers can enjoy the best of both worlds.
For example, by adding the Chat 150 to an enterprise telephone handset, customers can still use all of the features of
the handset, such as accessing the company directory, dialing ad-hoc bridge calls, checking voicemail, transferring
calls, etc., but can now enjoy rich, full-duplex speaker phone performance that the handset is simply unable to deliver.

Q:  How is the Chat 150 different from the Chat 50?
A:  It actually has many similarities to the Chat 50 – it connects to PCs, telephones, and video conferencing systems,
which the Chat 50 also can do. However, it boasts three built-in microphones for full 360-degree pickup, compared to
the Chat 50’s single microphone. It also features a larger speaker, which produces more volume. These added
capabilities deliver microphone and speaker coverage up to 8-12 feet away (depending on room conditions), which
would accommodate groups up to 8-10 people.

Q:  Are there any other similar competitive products on the market?
A:  The Chat 150 is really a unique product. There is no other product on the market that offers connectivity to
telephone handsets, PCs, and video conferencing systems, and at the same time delivering performance equivalent to
a tabletop conference phone.

But it’s not only the connectivity that makes the Chat 150 stand out. Its audio performance is simply unmatched. It
delivers true full duplex audio, which means that the user can both listen and talk at the same time, without the audio
cutting in and out. There are a number of lower-end products on the market that claim full duplex, but they simply do
not deliver this capability like the Chat 150, nor do they offer the connectivity options.

The Chat 150 features advanced audio processing technologies, including high-performance echo and noise
cancellation, which were developed by ClearOne, who is the worldwide leader in high-end audio conferencing
systems. Our technologies work together to deliver crystal-clear audio to make hands-free communications more
natural and easy to listen to.

Q:  Is the Chat 150 similar to ClearOne’s AccuMic?
A:  The AccuMic contains three echo-canceling microphone elements, and connects to PCs and video conferencing
systems. The Chat 150 adds a speaker, and also features connectivity to telephone handsets. It delivers all of these
capabilities at a price point substantially lower than the AccuMic.
