Connecting Cables and peripherals to the AirStation 54Mbps
Carefully following the instructions for connecting cables to your
AirStation is
key to a quick and simple initial setup. Please pay attention to the order and port
in which cables are attached to ensure proper communications between your
computer, the
AirStation and the Internet connection.
You can configure the
AirStation with an Ethernet connection or via a
wireless connection.
• For Ethernet, you must connect an Ethernet cable (CAT5) from one of the
AirStation’s LAN ports to your computers Ethernet port
• For wireless, your Macintosh must have Apple’s Airport Software installed
and enabled, an Airport Extreme or Airport card or third party
802.11b/802.11g compatible client installed and functioning.
Power down the CATV or DSL modem and the computer which will be used
with the
AirStation router.
Plug the CATV or DSL’s LAN Ethernet cable into the
AirStation’s WAN
port. Initially, you may need to unplug this cable from your computer, hub or
other router.
Plug the provided Ethernet cable into a LAN port on the
AirStation and
plug the other end into your computer Ethernet adapter’s (NIC) port. If
you plan to initially configure the
AirStation via a wireless connection, you
may skip this step.
Power on your CATV or DSL modem, wait one full minute, power on the
AirStation, wait one full minute and then power on the computer which
will be used to configure the
AirStation. If the red DIAG light on the
AirStation is lit or flashing after several minutes of being powered on,
please consult Buffalo Technical Support.
