Selecting the [REC] mode, and recording still

Turn the camera on.
A [REC]/[PLAYBACK] selector switch

The power lamp 2 lights when you turn this 
unit on 1.
Slide the [REC]/[PLAYBACK] 
selector switch to [!].
Switching the mode by rotating
