Note:
Your printer has an auto interface mode function that allows you to 
connect to more than one interface at a time. See “Changing the 
settings in SelecType mode” on page 94 
for details.
Coax and twinax interfaces enable the printer to communicate 
with an IBM minicomputer or mainframe via coax or twinax 
protocol. This allows Epson printers to function as local IBM 
printers without the addition of any other circuitry or 
components.
Installing an interface card
Follow the steps below to install an optional interface card.
Note:
If you install an optional interface card, be sure to select the interface 
you use in SelecType mode. See “Changing the settings in SelecType 
mode” on page 94
 for details.
1. Turn off both your printer and your computer. Then remove 
all power and interface cables from the printer.
2. Open the interface cover on the back of the printer.
3. Be sure to set any switches and jumpers on the card, as 
necessary. (See the interface card’s manual for details.)
