rear of the unit.  Record the serial number in the
space provided below.  Refer to them whenever
you call upon your Sony dealer regarding this
product.

apparatus with newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc.

filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus.
To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet. Refer
servicing to qualified personnel only.

Do not install the appliance in a confined space, such
as a bookcase or built-in cabinet.

This reminder is provided to call CATV system installer’s
attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that provides
guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular,
specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the
grounding system of the building, as close to the point of
cable entry as practical.

Use of this applicance with some systems may present a
shock or fire hazard. Do not use with any units which
have the following marking located near output.

The SA-FT1H is a 5.1 channel speaker system consisting
of two front speakers, two surround speakers, one center
speaker, and one subwoofer. It supports Sony Digital
Cinema Sound, Dolby* Pro Logic, and Dolby Digital etc.,
and is thus geared towards the enjoyment of movies.

• Before operating the system, be sure that the operating

voltage of the system is identical with that of your local
power supply.

• The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source

(mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet,
even if the unit itself has been turned off.

• Unplug the system from the wall outlet if it is not to be

used for an extended period of time.  To disconnect the
cord, pull the cord by grasping the plug.  Never pull
the cord itself.

• Should any liquid or solid object fall into the system,

unplug the system’s power cord and have the system
checked by qualified personnel before operating it any
further.

• AC power cord must be changed only at the qualified

service shop.

• Do not drive the speaker system with a continuous

wattage exceeding the maximum input power of the
system.

• If the polarity of the speaker connections are not

correct, the bass tones will be weak and the position of
the various instruments obscure.

• Contact between bare speaker wires at the speaker

terminals may result in a short-circuit.

• Before connecting, turn off the amplifier to avoid

damaging the speaker system.

• The volume level should not be turned up to the point

of distortion.

This speaker system is magnetically shielded to allow it
to be installed near a TV set.  However, color
irregularities may still be observed on certain types of TV
sets.

c Turn off the TV set, then turn it on again in 15 to 30

minutes.

c Place the speakers further away from the TV set.

Reposition the speakers or turn down the volume on the
amplifier.

• Do not set the speakers in an inclined position.
• Do not place the speakers in locations that are:

— Extremely hot or cold
— Dusty or dirty
— Very humid
— Subject to vibrations
— Subject to direct sunlight

• Use caution when placing the speaker on a specially

treated (waxed, oiled, polished, etc.) floor, as staining
or discoloration may result.

Clean the speaker cabinets with a soft cloth lightly
moistened with a mild detergent solution or water.  Do
not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder or
solvent such as alcohol or benzine.

If you have any questions or problems concerning your
speaker system, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

The speakers of this system can be installed in 2 ways,
using table top stands or install to the wall. The
accessories needed for each installation method are
shown in the tables below.

Attach the cushion G to the table top
stand cover C.

Thread the speaker cord A or F
through the holes on the table top stand
base B and the table top stand cover C.
Then, connect it to the speaker terminal.

Secure the table top stand cover C to
the speaker with the M5 screws D.

Secure the table top stand base B to the
table top stand cover C with the M3
screws E.

Adjusting the center speaker
stand (B)

The center speaker and the center speaker stand is fix at
the factory. However you can adjust it as you like.

Connect the speaker cord A to the
center speaker terminals.

Loosen the screws on the center speaker
stand and adjust the speaker. Tighten
the screws after you have finish
adjusting the speaker position.

Installing the speakers on the
wall (C)

You can install your speaker on the wall.

Prepare screws (not supplied) that are
suitable for the hole on the back of each
speaker.

Fasten the screws to the wall. The
screws should protrude 7 to 10 mm for
front/surround speakers and 5 to 7 mm
for center speaker.

Front/Surround Speaker (D)

Connect the speaker cord A or F to the
front or surround speakers terminals
accordingly.

Attach the supplied rear pads H to the
front and surround speaker.

Hang the speakers on the screw.

Center Speaker (E)

Connect the speaker cord A to the
center speaker terminals.

Unscrew the screws on the center
speaker stand.

Remove the speaker stand cover from
the center speaker stand.

Rotate the speaker stand and secure to
the speaker as shown in the illustration
E-4, then secure it with the supplied
washers and screws.

Hang the speaker on the screws.

• Use screws that are suitable for the wall material and

strength. As a plaster board wall is especially fragile
attach the screws securely to a beam and fasten them to
the wall. Install the speakers on a  vertical and flat wall
where reinforcement is applied.

• Contact a screw shop or installer regarding the wall

material or screws to be used.

• Sony is not responsible for accident or damage caused

by improper installation, insufficient wall strength or
improper screw installation, natural calamity, etc.

Pour éviter tout risque d’incendie ou d’électrocution,
ne pas exposer cet appareil à la pluie ou à l’humidité.
Pour prévenir tout risque d’incendie, ne couvrez pas les
orifices d’aération de l’appareil avec des journaux,
nappes, rideaux, etc., et ne placez pas de bougies
allumées sur l’appareil.
Pour prévenir tout risque d’incendie ou d’électrocution,
ne posez aucun objet rempli de liquide, comme un vase,
sur l’appareil.
Pour prévenir tout risque d’électrocution, n’ouvrez jamais
le coffret. Adressez-vous à un personnel qualifié
uniquement pour toute intervention sur l’appareil.

N’installez pas l’appareil dans un espace confiné
comme dans une bibliothèque ou un meuble encastré.

POUR EVTER LES CHOCS ELECTRIQUES,
INTRODUIRE LA LAME LA PLUS LARGE DE LA
FICHE DANS LA BORNE CORRESPONDANTE DE LA
PRISE ET POUSSER JUSQU’AU FOND.

Le SA-FT1H est un système acoustique à 5,1 voies
consistant en deux enceintes avant, deux enceintes
surround (il n’y a pas de différence entre les enceintes
avant et les enceintes surround), une enceinte centrale et
un caisson de grave. Il prend en charge les systèmes
Sony Digital Cinema Sound, Dolby* Pro Logic, et Dolby
Digital etc. Il est par conséquent réservé au visionnage de
films.

• Avant de mettre le système en service, assurez-vous que

sa tension de fonctionnement est identique à celle de
l’alimentation secteur locale.

• Le système n’est pas isolé de la source d’alimentation

secteur tant qu’il reste branché sur la prise murale, même
s’il est éteint.

• Débranchez le système s’il ne doit pas être utilisé

pendant longtemps. Pour débrancher le cordon, tirez sur
la fiche. Ne jamais tirer sur le cordon proprement dit.

• Si un liquide ou un solide pénètre dans le système,

débranchez le cordon d’alimentation du système et faites
vérifier le système par un professionnel avant de l’utiliser
à nouveau.

• Le cordon d’alimentation secteur doit être remplacé

seulement dans un centre de service compétent.

• Ne pas faire fonctionner le système acoustique

continuellement à une puissance dépassant sa puissance
d’entrée maximale.

• Si la polarité des liaisons d’enceintes n’est pas correcte,

les graves seront faibles et la position des différents
instruments de musique indistincte.

• Le contact des fils d’enceinte dénudés au niveau des

bornes de l’enceinte peut provoquer un court-circuit.

• Avant de raccorder les enceintes, éteignez l’amplificateur

pour éviter d’endommager le système acoustique.

•

Le volume sonore ne doit pas être élevé au point que le
son en soit déformé.

Le système acoustique est isolé contre le magnétisme et
peut être installé près d’un téléviseur. Cependant, avec
certains téléviseurs, vous pourrez observer des anomalies
de couleur.

c Mettez le téléviseur hors tension, puis remettez-le

sous tension 15 à 30 minutes plus tard.

c Eloignez les enceintes du téléviseur.

Repositionnez les enceintes ou réduisez le volume sur
l’amplificateur.

• N’installez pas les enceintes dans une position inclinée.
• N’installez pas les enceintes dans les endroits suivants :

— Extrêmement chauds ou froids
— Poussiéreux ou sales
— Très humides
— Sujets à des vibrations
— Exposés à la lumière directe du soleil

• Prenez les précautions nécessaires lors de l’installation du

haut-parleur sur un plancher traité (ciré, huilé, verni, etc.)
pour éviter l’apparition de taches ou la décoloration du sol.

Nettoyez les coffrets d’enceintes avec un chiffon doux
légèrement humidifié avec une solution détergente neutre
de l’eau. Ne pas utiliser de tampons abrasifs, de poudre à
récurer ni de solvants, comme l’alcool ou l’essence.

Pour toute question ou difficulté concernant votre système
acoustique, veuillez consulter votre revendeur Sony.

Les enceintes de ce système peuvent être installées de deux
façons, sur un meuble avec un support ou suspendues à un
mur. Les accessoires nécessaires pour chaque type
d’installation sont indiqués dans le tableau suivant.

Fixez le coussinet G sur le couvercle de
support C.

Faites passer le cordon d’enceinte A ou
F

 par les orifices sur la base de support

B

 et le couvercle de support C et

raccordez l’enceinte.

Fixez le couvercle de support C à
l’enceinte avec les vis M5 D.

Fixez la base de support B au couvercle
de support C avec les vis M3 E.

Réglage du pied d’enceinte
centrale (B)

Le pied d’enceinte centrale a été fixé en usine à l’enceinte
centrale. Vous pouvez toutefois l’ajuster si nécessaire.

Raccordez le cordon d’enceinte A aux
bornes de l’enceinte centrale.

Desserrez les vis sur le pied de
l’enceinte centrale et ajustez l’enceinte.
Serrez les vis lorsque l’enceinte est à la
bonne position.

Suspension des enceintes à un
mur (C)

Les enceintes peuvent aussi être suspendues à un mur.

Procurez-vous des vis (non fournies)
adaptées à l’orifice à l’arrière l’enceinte.

Fixez vis au mur. Les vis doivent
ressortir de 7 à 10 mm pour les
enceintes avant/surround et de 5 à 7
mm pour l’enceinte centrale.

Enceinte avant/surround (D)

Raccordez le cordon d’enceinte A ou F
aux bornes d’enceintes avant ou
surround.

Fixez les tampons arrière fournis H aux
enceintes avant et surround.

Accrochez les enceintes sur les vis.

Enceinte centrale (E)

Raccordez le cordon d’enceinte A aux
bornes de l’enceinte centrale.

Dévissez les vis sur le pied de l’enceinte
centrale.

Retirez le couvercle de pied d’enceinte
du pied de l’enceinte centrale.

Tournez le pied de l’enceinte et fixez
l’enceinte comme indiqué sur
l’illustration E-4, puis fixez-le avec les
rondelle et vis fournies.

Accrochez les enceinte sur vis.

• Utilisez des vis appropriées selon le matériau et la

résistance du mur. Comme les murs en plâtre sont
particulièrement fragiles, il est conseillé de fixer les vis
à un endroit du mur soutenu par un pilier de bois.
Installez les enceintes sur un mur vertical, plat et
renforcé.

• Adressez-vous à un magasin spécialisé ou à un

professionnel pour les vis à utiliser selon le matériau
des murs.

• Sony décline toute responsabilité en cas d’accident ou

de dommage causé par une mauvaise installation, une
mauvaise résistance du mur ou une mauvaise fixation
des vis, les calamités naturelles, etc.
