VALUE Computer Cables
This inexpensive cable has snap cases with scr-
ewed  tension  relief  and  two  fastening
screws.  An  aluminium  foil  screen  and  a  zinc
coated  earth  braid,  which  is  soldered  on  both
sides  to  the  connector,  provide  an  excellent
screening  against  electromagnetic  and  high
frequency  radiation.  The  fitted  wires  corre-
spond  to  AWG  28  and  are  soldered  to  the
connectors. Gold contacts (pins with gold layer,
0.8µm provide lower contact resistance).
ROLINE Computer Cables
,Similar to all ROLINE articles, these cables are
also  quality  products,  for  which  we  give  a  2
years guarantee.
This  cable  differs  from  standard  in  that  the
cases are moulded and equipped with thumb-
screws.  Moulded  connector  casings  have  the
advantage, that the solder joints in the connec-
tor are not subject to strain since the casing is
filled with plastic resin. Broken soldered joints
or  contacts  between  the  individual  soldered
joints  can  be  practically  ruled  out.  This  high
quality  cable  guarantees  permanent  functio-
nal  safety  even  during  hard  industrial  use.
ROLINE Computer Cables for EPP Interfaces
The EPP interface is delicate because of the high
data transfer rate. External magnetical and elec-
trical fields will influence this data transfer rate.
So special shielded cable are required.
During the development of the ROLINE Computer
Cable,  our  aim  was  high  quality  and  very  high
screening  against  external  magnetical  and  elec-
trical influences.
All connectors are moulded and shielded, not only
the cable is shielded, also the wires.
VALUE Computer Cables for EPP Interfaces
The enhanced parallel port (EPP) is based on the
IEEE1284 Specification.
The  data  transfer  rate  of  this  port,  is  up  to
1.5 MByte/s. This means 50 time faster than a nor-
mal parallel port.
To  guarantee  this  data  transfer  rate  the  cable
needs to be build up in a sophisticated way. The
cable contents 18 twisted pairs and an external
shielding.
VALUE computer cables for EPP interfaces can be
used for printers, scanners and other peripherals.
USB / FireWire Cables
The "Universal Serial Bus" (USB) is very well esta-
blished in the PC environment. Every peripheral
USB device has to follow a hierarchical structure,
beginning  from  the  PC.  Hubs  can  be  connected
together (cascaded) so that a kind of tree structu-
re for USB devices is created.
Standards of USB:
USB 1.1: In this standard a data transfer rate of
up to 12Mbit/s is possible.
USB 2.0: This standard exists since 2001. In this
standard a data transfer rate of up to 480Mbit/s is
possible. Every USB 2.0 cable and device is back-
ward compatible to the USB 1.1 standard. Every
standard works with a 4-pin cable, the difference
is in the diameter of the wires. These wires trans-
port data and electricity (max. 500mA).
USB 3.0: A new major feature of USB 3.0, that was
introduced  in  2009,  is  SuperSpeed  bus,  which
increases  the  maximum  transfer  rate  to  5.0
Gbit/s.  To  accommodate  the  additional  pins  for
SuperSpeed  mode,  the  physical  form  factors  for
USB 3.0 plugs and receptacles have been modified
from those used in previous versions. The USB 3.0
type  A  plug  is  compatible  with  USB  2.0  type  A
plug. USB 3.0 type B plug is a new connector and
not compatible with USB 2.0 type B plug.
FireWire  or  IEEE1394 was  accepted  first  in
Apple environments and beyond that also in the
multimedia world. This standard follows the Peer
to Peer principles, which means that all attached
devices are equivalent and they can communica-
te directly with each other.
IEE1394  is  hot  swappable,  this  means  you  can
attach  and  detach  devices  without  turning  off
your computer.
Standards of IEEE1394:
IEE1394a: In this standard a data transfer rate of
400Mbit/s is possible.
Cables  for  this  standard  have  connectors  with
6 pins. 2 wires are used for the power supply and
4 wires for the data transfer.
Besides  the  6-pin  connector  there  is  also  a  4-pin
connector available. The connector is smaller, but
there is no possibility to transfer electricity. Devi-
ces with 4-pin connector need an external power
supply.
IEEE1394b:  This  standard  exists  since  2003.  In
this standard a data transfer rate of 800Mbit/s is
possible. Cables for this standard have connectors
with 9 pins, for data transfer and power supply.
