New Features and Enhancements
This section provides a brief description of new features and enhancements in this release. For more information about the
features and benefits, as well as hardware and software specifications, see the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.1 Data Sheet at:
Data Center Assurance
The following enhancements have been made to Data Center:
Data Center Topology—Allows you to view the physical topology of the Data Center devices. The Data Center topology
map displays alarm badging for device icons to indicate the current alarm state of data center elements.
Fabric Extender Visibility—Discovers the Fabric Extender (FEX) components that cover FEX inventory and FEX
interfaces.
Virtual Device Context 1 HOP Topology View—Includes the Virtual Device Context (VDC) 1- HOP topology view for
Admin VDC. By launching the 360-degree view of Admin VDC from the Data Center topology, you can cross launch the
respective managed VDC and VDC 1- HOP topology view.
Network Virtual Port Channel Link Health Status—Allows you to view the virtual Port Channel (vPC) link health status
when you choose Maps > Topology Maps > Datacenter Topology
Monitoring Nexus vPC Health—Introduces the Nexus virtual Port Channel (vPC) health monitoring policy. This feature
fetches the configuration parameters from the operational Primary vPC-configured Nexus switch and looks for any
discrepancies in the configuration, which can lead to inconsistencies by correlating with the secondary vPC-configured
Nexus switch.
Data Center REST APIs—Allows you to fetch cluster, data center, and Virtual Machine (VM) details from outside the
Prime Infrastructure interface.
Operations Center
Operations Center enables centralized management of multiple instances of Prime Infrastructure . With Operations Center, you
get easy access to information about the health of your entire network managed by the multiple Prime Infrastructure instances.
The following enhancements have been made to Operations Center:
Support for mixed Operations Center licenses—Instead of a two-step process involving multiple license files, you can
apply a single license file to transform a Prime Infrastructure instance into Operations Center.
Seamless Single Sign On (SSO) setup—Immediately after applying the license to Operations Center, administrators can
choose to configure the SSO automatically.
Configuring SSO in the managed instances—SSO configurations for the Prime Infrastructure server instance are done from
the Operation Center while adding the instances, which eliminates the need to pre-configure the Prime Infrastructure
instance with the SSO Server.
Monitoring managed instance reachability—Operations Center reports on the current and historical reachability status of
the managed Prime Infrastructure server instances.
High Availability—Operations Center supports High Availability (HA) deployment and supports virtual IP configurations.
Display and distribute configuration templates—You can view the configuration templates available in the managed
instances.
