Early field trial customers who have configured a previous X8.1 or X8.1.1 system for external XMPP
federation must reconfigure their XMPP federation settings after upgrading to X8.2.

If you are upgrading an Expressway that uses clustering, you must follow the directions in Expressway

To upgrade a non-clustered Expressway:
1. Backup the Expressway (
Maintenance > Backup and restore

We recommend that Expressway-C (traversal client) and Expressway-E (traversal server) systems that are
