1. Extension Coverage Period
Cisco is extending the last day of MeetingPlace
®
Software Maintenance Support from July 9, 2015, to January 31,
2017. The extension is applicable only to MeetingPlace v8.6 customers with type II deployments. No other dates in
the product lifecycle are changing. In particular, it’s important to note that the end-of-life date remains the same.

2. Meeting Place v8.6 Type II Deployment Definition
In this type of deployment, “Scheduling” is done through the WebEx
®
Site, WebEx Productivity Tools, or WebEx
Assistant. Type II is the most common deployment type for MeetingPlace v8.6.
In a type II deployment the MeetingPlace Application Server is the only component deployed on-premises and the
rest is on the WebEx Cloud, including the email notification engine. In essence the MeetingPlace conferencing
system acts as the audio bridge for an already-provisioned WebEx site (Figure 1).

TSP
is the “connection” between the MeetingPlace Application Server and WebEx Cloud. It is responsible for all
communication between MeetingPlace and WebEx Cloud.
Cisco WebEx Site is a website hosted in the WebEx Cloud where users go to schedule, join, and manage
meetings.
The terms "type I" and "type II" [or type 1 and type 2] were originally introduced for the integration of
MeetingPlace 7.0 and 8.0 with WebEx. However, upon release of MeetingPlace v8.5, the terms "MeetingPlace
Scheduling" and "WebEx Scheduling" replaced the “type” names. Hence, some customers running on
Scheduling" and "WebEx Scheduling" replaced the “type” names. Hence, some customers running on
MeetingPlace v8.5 and v8.6 may not be familiar with the terms "type I" and "type II".
