Gzip supports compression rates of 25% - 30% on each of the database backup

les. This allows

the database to increase in size. The compressed backup is decompressed during a restore.

Compression Ratio

The compression package targets a 25%-30% compression rate for database back compression.

This allows a 100 GB backup database file to compresses to 30 GB, freeing up an additional

140 GB of disk space (2 backups x 70 GB) to store additional call data. 

As a result, the Reporting

Database can double in size.

Selecting Medium for your database size now installs at 100 GB.

Selecting Large installs at 200 GB.

• The Small selection is unchanged (2 GB) and is supported for lab deployments or demo

purposes only.

• Unified CVP does not support manual upgrades of a Medium Reporting Server to a Large

Reporting server. A customer who wishes to do this must uninstall the medium database and

reinstall a large database. This will result in data loss, as you cannot restore a medium database

on a large database. If you try to restore a medium database to a large database, the database

size will revert to medium.

Retries: Backup and Purge

Occasionally, a backup or purge cannot run when scheduled. For example, if an on-demand

backup is running when a purge is scheduled to run, the purge will be prevented from running.

Retries of scheduled backups or purges are performed according to the following rules.

There are no retries for an on-demand backup.

•

A scheduled backup retries every 10 minutes, for up to 4 hours.

•

A purge retries every 10 minutes, for up to 6 hours.

•

At the end of 4 hours (for a backup) or 6 hours (for a purge), if the operation has not succeeded,

retries stop and an SNMP alert is sent.

•

If both a backup and a purge are retrying simultaneously, there is no guarantee as to which

operation will run first.

•

If a lock (the mechanism preventing a backup or purge from running) is over 12 hours old,

the system clears it.
