Cisco Cisco CRS-X Multishelf System Release Notes

For the Cisco CRS 16-Slot Line Card Chassis Enhanced Router, the following cards were introduced:

• CRS-MSC-X-L (200G) modular services card (MSC)

• CRS-FP-X-L (200G) forwarding processor (FP) card

CRS-X line card do not support the features listed below. Any CRS-X chassis with a combination of CRS-1
or CRS-3 and CRS-X line cards cannot support these features without service degradation.

• Pseudo-wire Head End (PWHE)

• Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS)

• GRE-based mVPN

• Carrier-Supporting Carrier (CSC)

• Automatic Multicast Tunneling (AMT)

• Point-to-Multipoint Traffic Engineering (P2MP-TE)

To mitigate any convergence issues arising out of a link addition, due to asynchronous programming of ingress
and egress line cards, configure the carrier-delay up 60000 command on CRS-X interfaces.

• Default timestamp setting—The timestamp prompt that precedes console output is enabled by default.

To disable the timestamp prompt, use the no service timestamp command. For more information, refer
to the Cisco IOS XR System Management Command Reference for the Cisco CRS Router, Release 5.3.x

• Country-specific laws, regulations, and licenses—In certain countries, use of these products may be

prohibited and subject to laws, regulations, or licenses, including requirements applicable to the use of
the products under telecommunications and other laws and regulations; customers must comply with all
such applicable laws in the countries in which they intend to use the products.

• Field replacable unit (FRU) removal—For all card removal and replacement (including fabric cards,

line cards, fan controller, and RP) follow the instructions provided by Cisco to avoid impact to traffic.

• Exceeding Cisco testing—If you intend to test beyond the combined maximum configuration tested and

published by Cisco, contact your Cisco Technical Support representative to discuss how to engineer a
large-scale configuration for your purpose.
