Introduction
This document describes how to create a self−signed certificate to the list of root trusted certificates on the
server.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Before you create the certificate, make sure that you complete steps 1, 2, and 3 in the Server Tasks To
Complete Immediately section of Post−installation Server Tasks.
Components Used
This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.

Create a Self−Signed Certificate
Step 4 of Server Tasks To Complete Immediately explains how to set up the self−signed certificate in the
server. These steps guide you through how to access the Cisco Security Manager server via HTTPS through
the self−signed certificate.
A Security Alert dialog box appears and prompts you to accept, reject, or validate the self−signed
certificate. This dialog box appears each time you connect to the server.

Click Yes in order to accept the self−signed certificate for that particular session.
In order to avoid this prompt each time you connect to Cisco Security Manager via HTTPS, click
View Certificate instead of Yes.

A new window appears that displays "Issued to" = "issued by". This means it is a self−signed
certificate.
