Configures the maximum number of failed login attempts a local-user can have before their account is locked out.

Entering the above command sequence results in the following prompt: 

[local]host_name(config)# 

 

local-user max-failed-logins number 

[ default | no ] local-user max-failed-logins 

 

Disables this functionality. 

 

Restores this parameter to its default setting of 5. 

 

Specifies the maximum number of times a local-user could experience a login failure before their account is 
locked out. 

 is an integer from 2 through 100. Default: 5 

This command configures the maximum number of failed login attempts a local-user can have before their 
account is locked out. For example if, this parameter is configured to “3” then after the third failed login 
attempt, the account would be locked. 

  Local-user accounts can be configured to either enforce or reject a lockout due to the maximum 

number of failed login being reached. Refer to the 

 command for more information.
