Cisco Cisco Virtual Topology System 2.1 Release Notes

These release notes provide an overview of Cisco Virtual Topology System (VTS) 2.1 and describes how to
access bugs for this release.

Cisco VTS 2.1 supports the following new features:

• Setup Wizard—The Setup wizard guides you through a series of steps that help you set up the system

and get started. After you log in to Cisco VTS for the first time, and change the default password, you
can choose between the following options to set up the system:

Guide me to setup—Select this option to start the Setup wizard that guides you through the initial
configuration tasks to get your system ready for use.

I will set up myself—If you do not need the guided set up wizard, you can choose this option. This
option takes you to the Quick Guide, which displays the tasks that need to be completed. See the
Getting Started chapter of the Cisco Virtual Topology System 2.1 User Guide for more details.

• Fabric Extenders(FEX) Support — FEX support is available for Cisco Nexus 2000 series of Fabric

Extenders (C2248TP-E9500, C2232PP).

• vCenter Enhancements — Cisco VTS now supports VMware vCentre 5.5 Update 2 and 6.0 Update 1

Server Appliance.

• Resource Pool-Group-based VLAN Pool — Cisco VTS supports group-based VLAN pools. Instead of

specifying a per-device VLAN pool it is now possible to create a Group-based VLAN pool.

• IOS XRv connectivity — In VTS 2.1 IOS XRv is connected to both the management and underlay

network.

• SSH to IOS XRv — VTS 2.1 uses SSH to connect to IOS XRv.

• VTF Installation — In VTS 2.1, VTF installations on compute hosts are automated. VTF is no longer

provided as a separate qcow2/ova image but instead is packaged with the VTC VM. VTF is installed
using the GUI. See the Installing the Virtual Topology Forwarder section in the Cisco Virtual Topology
System 2.1 Installation Guide for details. Logs for the automated VTF are found under
/var/vts/log/vts-vmm-plugin-install.log.
