Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart 8.2
Cisco Prime
Network Registrar Jumpstart is a high-performing hardware appliance
for Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
services. The solution combines the speed, scalability, and reliability of Cisco Prime
Network Registrar world-class DHCP and DNS servers with the ease of deployment of
an appliance format and the high performance of Cisco
®
 server hardware.
Product Overview
With the Internet of Everything, billions of new devices such as mobile phones, portable multimedia devices,
sensors, and controllers will demand Internet connectivity over the next five years. At the same time, many service
providers have started making the transition to IPv6.
Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart is designed to address these challenges by helping network operators
effectively manage IP address growth and automate the adoption of IPv6. The solution offers full lifecycle
management for IPv4 and IPv6 for service providers that administer DNS and DHCP services and need a high-
performing, scalable, reliable platform to service their subscribers.
Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart provides a streamlined, straightforward installation that lowers total cost
of ownership (TCO) and promotes rapid time to value for the DNS/DHCP solution.
Cisco Prime Network Registrar Jumpstart includes the following:
●
Cisco Prime Network Registrar DNS: A single, standards-compliant DNS server for IP address translation
and service delivery that supports both IPv4 and IPv6 as well as high availability DNS. Advanced
capabilities include implementation support for and management of DNS views, support for domain and
NXDOMAIN redirection, and support for DNS E.164 Number Mapping (ENUM) configuration. Cisco Prime
Network Registrar DNS comes preinstalled and preconfigured on the appliance.
●
Cisco Prime Network Registrar DNS Caching Server: A DNS caching server that supports DNS Security
Extensions (DNSSEC) to prevent cache poisoning and other attacks and provides validation that DNS data
has been signed. It also supports DNS64, which allows an IPv6 client to resolve an IPv4 address.
●
Cisco Prime Network Registrar DHCP: A single, standards-compliant DHCP server for device network
access that supports both IPv4 and IPv6. Cisco Prime Network Registrar DHCP is scalable, fast, and
powerful and includes support for both DHCPv4 and DHCPv6 failover and a patent-pending discriminating
rate limiter for avalanche protection to limit downtime after network outages. The full-featured DHCPv6
server provides support for address assignment, both stateless and stateful configuration, and prefix
delegation and stability for full IPv6 address management. Powerful, industry-leading extension support for
both IPv4 and IPv6 allows service providers to alter and customize DHCP server operations, improving
network security, network performance, and third-party application integration. Cisco Prime Network
Registrar DHCP comes preinstalled and preconfigured on the appliance.
