Functional Overview of Cisco EPN Manager 1.1
Cisco Evolved Programmable Network Manager (Cisco EPN Manager) 1.1 is an EMS/NMS solution
that provides simplified, converged, multilayer management of carrier-grade networks. It currently
manages Carrier Ethernet and optical transport networks, with expansion into other technologies
planned for future releases.
Cisco EPN Manager offers end-to-end device management, network provisioning, and network
assurance. It is a flexible, easy-to-deploy solution with a common inventory/data model and visually
appealing user interface that provides a single product experience across management functions.
Cisco EPN Manager 1.1 provides the following high-level features and functionalities:
Device Management—Device/resource discovery, device grouping, basic device health monitoring,
image and configuration management, EMS-level assurance.
Service Discovery and Provisioning—Discovery of Ethernet Virtual Connections (VCs) and Optical
circuits, service intent/network reconciliation, ability to create, provision, modify and delete
circuits/VCs. Simple provisioning wizard with point and click functionality (i.e., click on a device
in a topology map to select it as an endpoint).
Network Assurance—Fault and performance per circuit/VC, monitoring policies and reporting
functionality, multilayer circuit trace.
Network Visualization—Topology map for visualization of devices and circuits/VCs.
Supported Ethernet VCs:
E-Line (EPL/EVPL) MPLS to the edge—single segment pseudowire, local access, G.8032,
ICCP-SM
E-LAN (EP-LAN/EVP-LAN)—MPLS to the edge, single segment pseudowire, VPLS/H-VPLS
with redundant pseudowire
E-Tree (EP-Tree/EVP-Tree)—MPLS to the edge
E-Access (EP-Access/EVP-Access)—MPLS to the edge
Supported Optical circuits:
Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Optical Channel (OCH) Circuit—Optical
Channel Network Connection (OCHNC), Optical Channel Client Connection (OCHCC),
Optical Channel Trail (OCH-Trail)
Optical Transport Network (OTN) Circuit—ODU UNI, ODU Tunnel
Functionality Added in Cisco EPN Manager 1.1.2
The following additional functionality and enhancements are provided in Cisco EPN Manager 1.1.2:
Support for Cisco ONS 10.3 running on Cisco NCS 2000 optical devices.
Support for Cisco IOS-XR 5.2.4 running on Cisco NCS 4000 optical devices.
Support for including hardware PIDs in Cisco NCS 2000 and Cisco NCS 4000 in inventory reports.
Support for provisioning of EVCs over a G.8032 access ring or over ICCP-SM links.
Support for defining QinQ attributes on the UNI/ENNI service endpoint when provisioning EVPL
and Access EVPL VCs.
Support for selecting multiple UNIs when provisioning EVP-LAN EVCs.
