  New Features and Functionality
Integration with the Prime Central suite 
You can install Prime Optical 9.3.1 as a standalone product or as part of the 
Prime Central suite. When installed in suite mode, you can take advantage of 
the single sign-on (SSO) feature. 
With SSO, when you log into the Prime Central portal, you do not have to log 
in separately to Prime Optical or other domain managers within your domain.
Automatic client installation using Java 
Web Start
You can automatically install the Prime Optical client using Java Web Start 
technology. When the Prime Optical administrator updates or patches the 
server, the client is updated automatically.
Ability to run Prime Optical 9.3.1 on a 
VMware system
Prime Optical 9.3.1 supports VMware ESXi 4.0 virtualization systems.
Server/Client Platform Enhancements
Support for up to 5,000 optical NEs
CTM R9.2 supports up to 4,000 optical NEs. Prime Optical offers higher scale, 
with support for up to 5,000 optical NEs.
Ability to export the entire contents of a PM 
table
You can export the entire contents of the selected PM table to a text file. A 
progress bar tracks the export progress. In earlier releases, this feature was 
available only for alarm and inventory tables.
Ability to exclude out-of-service NEs from 
the Equipment Inventory table
You can filter out NEs marked as Out of Service so that they are not displayed 
in the Equipment Inventory table.
Optical Enhancements
Support for CTC-based NE Release 9.3 and 
9.3.0.1
Expands Prime Optical’s scope to include operations, administration, 
management, and provisioning (OAM&P) for the following CTC-based NE 
releases:
Cisco ONS 15454 R9.3
Cisco ONS 15454 SDH R9.3
ONS 15454 MSTP (ANSI/ETSI) R9.3
ONS 15454-M6 R9.3
ONS 15454-M2 R9.3
Carrier Packet Transport 200
Carrier Packet Transport 200 SDH
Carrier Packet Transport 600
Carrier Packet Transport 600 SDH
Note
In Prime Optical 9.3.1, the CPT-200 and CPT-600 platforms are 
managed as ONS 15454 SONET/ONS 15454 SDH NEs.
