Installing GQAM Software onto the DNCS 
Follow these instructions to install GQAM software version 1.2 from the directory 

you created at the beginning of this procedure. 
1  Type /usr/sbin/install_pkg and then press Enter. 

Results: 

 

The system lists the packages that will be installed. 

 

A confirmation message appears asking you to confirm that you want to 

proceed with the installation. 

2  Type y and press Enter to start the installation. When the installation is complete, 

the system displays a message stating that the installation was successful and a 

prompt for the root user appears. 

Note: The installation should take a minute or less. 

3  Was the installation successful? 

 

If yes, type exit and press Enter to log out as root user. Then, go to step 4. 

 

If no, contact Cisco Services. 

4  Use the UNIX rm -rfi command to remove the following file and directory: 

 

GQAM12.tar (file) 

 

SAIgqam (directory) 

Example: Type rm –rfi GQAM12.tar and press Enter. 
Result: A confirmation question message appears asking you to confirm the 

removal. 

5  Type Yes and press Enter when prompted to remove the GQAM12.tar file and 

the contents of the SAIgqam directory. 

6  Type exit and press Enter to close the xterm window. You are ready to 

determine a sequence for downloading GQAM software version 1.2 to the 

GQAM modulators in your system.  

7  Go to 

Establish a Download Sequence (on page 22).
