Direct ASI: Direct ASI Replaces the BIG
What’s Direct ASI?
You can now send BFS data directly from the DNCS to a BFS QAM modulator.
Direct ASI simplifies your network by eliminating the need for a BFS BIG or for
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) between the
DNCS and a BFS BIG.
Direct ASI requires a DVB-ASI card and may require additional network

components. Cisco Service engineers can configure your DNCS to support Direct
ASI when they upgrade your system to SR 4.0.
