Cable systems use a combination of hardware and software components to send 

OCAP services to OpenCable hosts. The selection of these components depends 

upon what kind of system you are using to implement the OCAP services. Cisco 

provides support for the OCAP middleware standard with System Release 4.0 (SR 

4.0). 
This chapter provides an overview of the OCAP features supported by SR 4.0 and 

the hardware and software components used in the implementation of a Cisco 

OCAP system.
