Description
The Prisma I
Model 6478 Communications Interface Module (CIM) is the interface between
the Prisma I modules installed in the Prisma I Chassis and the Transmission Network Control
System (TNCS).
Providing the connection between the communications bus and the installed Prisma I
modules, the CIM is an integral component of the TNCS system.
Installing the CIM into a Prisma I Chassis allows the TNCS monitoring computer to "talk" to
the modules, giving early warning of system faults and allowing for network switching through
the control functions of the TNCS system (control and switch functions are module
dependent). The Handheld Controller that connects to the CIM provides a central, easy to
use interface for configuring the Prisma I modules for TNCS.
