The number of Historical Data Servers that you configure also depends on how long the HDS will
take to backup and your reporting needs. If you are storing large amounts of data, backup might
take several hours. The HDS should not be used to run historical reports while it is backing up as
this might decrease performance. If you want to run reports while the HDS is backing up, you
should configure at least one additional HDS to use to run WebView reports.

Planning which Report Templates to Use
Refer to the following sections of this guide to determine which report templates meet your reporting
needs:
Planning for Custom Reporting
To determine whether you require custom templates to meet your reporting needs, decide what data you
need and reviewed the data available through WebView IPCC reports. If the existing reports do not meet
your needs, you can modify existing report templates or create custom report templates. If you want to
include the same types of data provided by the WebView reports in new or modified templates, the
customization might not impact database or WebView performance.
However, if you require more detailed or application-specific data, the customization might be more
resource intensive and decrease the performance of the database or WebView. You should understand
the performance impact of custom reports before running the reports using WebView.
