‘ZAPPIN’ allows fast, convenient browsing of 
music stored on the B and W Series Walkman 

models without the need to look at a display.

To activate this function you simply press the "ZAP" button on the B 
Series, or press and hold the jog dial on the W Series. Sequentially, or in 
random order, the Walkman will then playback four second ‘snippets’ of 
music (or 15 seconds in long mode) at a more recognisable part of the 
song (eg. the chorus). Once you hear the song you wish to listen to, press 
the "ZAP" button or jog dial to start playback from the beginning of your 
selected song.

ZAPPIN provides an intuitive way of finding and listening to your digital 
music without visual cues, making these models perfect for the gym, jogging 
or other situations where traditional navigation could slow you down.

Sony’s Clear Bass delivers powerful, controlled, low-end frequencies 
without distortion and can add warmth and presence to all 

genres of music. Easily adjustable, Clear Bass can be altered to suit your bass 
preferences.

DSEE ensures smooth, detailed reproduction of high-

frequency information that is typically lost when the original CD-quality 
music source is compressed as an MP3 file.

The S750 Video MP3 Walkman includes in-built noise-

cancellation. There’s a choice of settings to cut background noise whether 
you’re aboard a plane, bus, train or in the office. Air travellers can also 
connect this model directly to a plane’s in-seat AV system using the supplied 
connector, to benefit from noise-cancelling when in-flight.

The SensMe

™

 feature on the new E and S Series 

Walkman groups music tracks together into channels 

or playlists based on the song's characteristics (eg. tempo). It does this by 
going through a 12 tone analysis process once the music has been imported 
into your computer. SensMe

™

 channels include: Energetic, Relax, Mellow, 

Upbeat, Emotional, Lounge, Dance, Extreme, Shuffle and Recommended.

Additionally, the new E Series and S Series Walkman can perform this 
analysis and categorise the music into the SensMe

™

 channels itself if the 12 

tone analysis has not been done via software on your computer (Media Go 
or Picture Motion Browser).

Walkman models allow easy transfer of music, videos and 
images without any additional software by simple ‘Drag 
& Drop’ file transfer. 

To assist moving media files directly from iTunes

®

 selected 

Walkman 2010 models are supplied with the intuitive 
‘Content Transfer’ tool.

Content Transfer opens a small window application (or gadget in 
Windows

®

 Vista

®

 or Windows 7) that allows users to simply and quickly 

drag compatible music from iTunes

®

 onto their Walkman. If using a Video 

MP3 Walkman, compatible digital photos and common video files can 
also be transferred using this method. 

Additionally, every Walkman is compatible with Windows Media Player 12, 
which provides comprehensive media management, including compatibility 
with several music distribution sites such as bandit.fm.

The principle of noise-cancelling is to reduce low frequency, ambient noises that often 
interfere with your listening experience, such as the constant hum from an airplane. 

This is done through the use of small inbuilt microphones that constantly monitor ambient noise. Using 
sophisticated processing, these headphones can filter out this noise by producing an inverse sound wave 
(see below).

Sony’s Digital Noise-Cancelling headphones, featured on the MDRNC300D and the S750 Series 
Walkman, use a digital noise-cancelling system to eliminate distortion and ambient sound whilst 
maximising audio quality. 

Using Digital Noise-Cancelling means that the constant hum often heard when flying, commuting or in 
other noisy environments is reduced by up to 98%* whilst maintaining the integrity of the music source.
