For the Mac OS, the default Acrobat installation installs the PDFMaker feature for the
Professional, Standard, and Student and Teacher Editions of the following Microsoft

When you install Acrobat using the default installation settings, the installer identifies third-
party applications on your computer that support PDFMaker and installs the necessary

Adobe PDF Printer
In an application that does not have a PDFMaker, you can still create a PDF file using the
Adobe PDF printer. Your source document is converted to PostScript and fed directly to
Distiller for conversion to PDF, without manually starting Distiller. The current Distiller
preference settings and Adobe PDF settings are used to convert the file.

Save As or Export
Use the Save As or Export command to create an Adobe PDF file from the current file.
This method is available in authoring applications such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe
Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, and Adobe PageMaker. All the necessary components
for creating Adobe PDF files are installed and configured automatically when you
