Configuring Photoshop
Elements
Preferences let you configure Photoshop Elements
to best meet your needs. They can be used to
control how the program uses memory, and to
control the work area environment.
Setting preferences
Preferences are program settings that control
general display options, file-saving options, cursor
options, transparency options, and options for
plug-ins and scratch disks. Most of these options
are set in dialog boxes that can be opened through
the Preferences submenu in the Edit menu.
Preference settings are saved each time you exit the
application.
Unexpected behavior may indicate damaged
preferences. You can generate a new preferences
file with all preference settings returned to their
defaults.

Edit > Preferences submenu.
