MIF Document Statements
Views statement
The Views statement contains the color views for the document. A document can have only one Views 
statement, which must appear at the top level in the order given in “MIF file layout” on page 66. 
Syntax
View statement
For each color view, the View statement specifies which colors will be displayed, which will be displayed as 
cutouts, and which will not be displayed at all. The View statement must appear in a Views statement.

Variables
All variable definitions for a document are contained in a VariableFormats statement. Both user-defined 
and system-defined variables are defined by a VariableFormat statement. A Variable statement that refers 
to the variable name shows where the variable appears in text (see “ParaLine statement” on page 134).
VariableFormats and VariableFormat statements
The VariableFormats statement defines document variables to be used in document text flows. A MIF file 
can have only one VariableFormats statement, which must appear at the top level in the order given in 
“MIF file layout” on page 66.
