DESCRIPTION
The ListenIn is an optional unit that when added to the Advan-
tage plus Base Module gives the system the ability to support
sixteen additional audio verification sensors (Advantage
AudioSensors or Advantage GlassBreaks). The Advantage plus
Base Module can interface and control up to eight ListenIn
Modules.
Location information is not stored for ListenIn module sensors.
UL Listing for this module covers device compatibility as an
accessory only. The audio verification performance of this
module has not been investigated by UL.
CALCULATING BATTERY STANDBY
Before installation you must add the ListenIn Module’s Normal
Standby
and Alarm current (30 mA), and both the normal and alarm
current drawn by all connected Advantage AudioSensors (5 mA
each), and Advantage GlassBreaks (12 mA Standby, 26 mA
Alarm) to the power source’s standby battery calculations.
To properly calculate the backup battery capacity you MUST
evaluate the Normal Standby and the Alarm current required by the
connected devices.  Calculate the connected devices’ Ampere-Hour
requirements using the following factors:
• the total standby load
• hours of required standby operation
• the required duration of alarm signaling (normally 4 minutes
for residential fire, 15 minutes for commercial burglary).
NOTE: See the “Advantage plus Installation Instructions”
(P/N 09820450) for complete details.
See the Advantage plus Service Manual (P/N 09820460) for operational theory and service procedures.
See the SONICS Database Management Manual (P/N 09820426) for options programming procedures.

Installation Instructions for:
Advantage ListenIn Module
(P/N: AVR LIM)
INSTALLATION
LISTENIN MODULE OPTIONS
NOTE: The following details only those options required to
install the ListenIn Module hardware.  See the “SONICS
Database Management Manual”
 (P/N 09820426) for
complete options programming procedures.
1. In the SONICS Modify-ASOP-Equipment screen, select the
ListenIn Module and enter the number of ListenIn Modules
installed.
2. In the Modify-ASOP-Audio-Detector/Preamp screen, specify
“LIM” as the audio module type, then enter ListenIn Module
number (1-8).  This number MUST match the address set on the
module during installation.
CABINET AND MODULE INSTALLATION
CAUTION!
DO NOT INSTALL THE POWERSOURCE WHERE
THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW 0°F OR
RISES ABOVE 122°F.
UL HAS NOT EVALUATED OPERATION BELOW 32° F
Unless the ListenIn Module is powered from a remote power
supply, mount the enclosure next to a standard 120VAC outlet to
simplify AC wiring.  See Figure 1 for the possible cabinet layout
and do the following:
1. Match the holes in each optional module with the holes in
the rear of the chassis.  Install the required number of stand-
offs by pressing them in from the back of the cabinet.
2. Using the cabinet as a guide, mark the top two mounting hole
locations on the mounting surface.
3. Mount the top screws and place the cabinet keyholes on the
screws.  Tighten the top screws and secure the cabinet with the
bottom screws.
4. Mount the ListenIn Module on the nylon standoffs installed
in step #1.
5. Mount any additional modules inside the cabinet on the nylon
standoffs installed in step #1.
