ART Model 418  Eight Channel Personal Mixer with EQ and Direct Outs
The ART Model 418 Eight Channel Personal Mixer provides eight channels of basic mic/line mixing capability in a convenient, easy-to-
use rack format. The unit features a selection of XLR mic and 1/4 inch unbalanced line inputs with LEVEL and TONE controls.
Additionally, phantom power is also available, and is switch-selectable on each mic input.
Each line input can be converted internally to a line output for that channel.
Two 418’s can be patched together via their Pre-Fade Out and Aux in jacks so that one is slaved to the other for up to 16 channels with
one master level.

Usage
a) Connect the AC cord to a grounded 120VAC socket.
b) Connect low-impedance mics to the XLR sockets.
c) Connect shielded unbalanced line inputs to the 1/4” inch jacks.
d) For mic channels requiring phantom power (for condenser mics) set the appropriate PHANTOM POWER DIP switches in the down
position. Do not engage phantom power on a channel unless it is for a condenser microphone.
e) Switch on the power and set the MASTER LEVEL to the 1/2 way setting, then adjust the channel LEVEL controls as required for the
best mix and level. Adjust the channel TONE controls for the desired balance of lows and highs. Center setting is approx. neutral.
f) Re-adjust the MASTER LEVEL as required for best signal level.
g) To inter-connect two 418s for 16 channels, run a shielded, unbalanced patch cable from the PRE-FADE OUT jack on mixer A to the
AUX BUS IN jack on mixer B. Note that only the MASTER LEVEL on mixer B will now function.
h) To convert the line input on a channel to a line output, unplug the 418’s AC cord from the wall and remove the top plate. Inside you
will see a row of jumpers. Move the jumper for the desired channel to pins 2 & 3. Now that channel’s line input is converted to a line
output and may be connected to the input of another mixer. Do not connect the output of a mixer or any other signal source here now or
the unit may sustain damage. Be sure to replace the lid before plugging the unit back into the AC socket.
