in the space provided below. Refer to them whenever you call upon your Sony dealer 

regarding this product.

To reduce the risk of fire, do not cover the ventilation opening of the apparatus with 

newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc. Do not place the naked flame sources such as 

lighted candles on the apparatus.

To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to dripping or 

splashing, and do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus.

To prevent injury, this apparatus must be securely attached to the floor/wall in 

accordance with the installation instructions.

Do not install the appliance in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet.

The unit is not disconnected from the mains as long as it is connected to the AC outlet, 

even if the unit itself has been turned off.

As the main plug is used to disconnect the unit from the mains, connect the unit to an 

easily accessible AC outlet. Should you notice an abnormality in the unit, disconnect 

the main plug from the AC outlet immediately.

The nameplate is located on the rear exterior.

The mains switch is located on the rear exterior.

This symbol is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated 

“dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient 

magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
This symbol is intended to alert the user to the presence of important 

operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature 

accompanying the appliance.

Important Safety Instructions
1)   Read these instructions.

5)   Do not use this apparatus near water.

6)   Clean only with dry cloth.

7)   Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the 

manufacturer’s instructions.

8)   Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other 

apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

9)   Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A 

polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug 

has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are 

provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult 

an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

10)  Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, 

convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

11)  Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

12)  Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, 

or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/

apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

13)  Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of 

time.

14)  Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the 

apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is 

damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the 

apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has 

been dropped.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, the speaker cord should be connected to the 

apparatus and the speakers in accordance with the following instructions.

1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the MAINS.

2. Strip 10 to 15 mm of the wire insulation of the speaker cord.

3. Connect the speaker cord to the apparatus and the speakers carefully so as not to 

touch the core of speaker cord by hand. 

Also disconnect the AC power cord from the MAINS before disconnecting the speaker 

cord from the apparatus and the speakers.

On safety
 Before operating the subwoofer, be sure that the operating voltage of the subwoofer is 

identical with that of your local power supply.

 Unplug the subwoofer from the wall outlet if it is not to be used for an extended 

period of time. To disconnect the cord, pull the cord by grasping the plug. Never pull 

the cord itself.

 Should any liquid or solid object fall into the subwoofer, unplug the subwoofer and 

have the subwoofer checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further.

 AC power cord must be changed only at the qualified service shop.
On operation
 Do not drive the speaker system with a continuous wattage exceeding the maximum 

input power of the system.

 If the polarity of the speaker connections are not correct, the bass tones will be weak 

and the position of the various instruments obscure.

 Before connecting, turn off the amplifier to avoid damaging the speaker system.
 The speaker grille cannot be removed. Do not attempt to remove the grille on the 

speaker system. If you try to remove it, you may damage the speaker.

 The volume level should not be turned up to the point of distortion.
On placement
 Do not set the speakers in an inclined position.
 Do not place the speakers in locations that are:

— Extremely hot or cold

— Dusty or dirty

— Very humid

— Subject to vibrations

— Subject to direct sunlight
 Use caution when placing the speaker on a specially treated (waxed, oiled, polished, 

etc.) floor, as staining or discoloration may result.

 Take care to avoid any possible injury on the corners of the subwoofer.
On cleaning
 Clean the speaker cabinets with a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent 

solution or water. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder or solvent 

such as alcohol or benzine.

 If it is stained with oil or fingerprints, breath on the surface and wipe it with soft dry 

cloth.

Should you encounter a problem with your speaker system, check the following list and 

take the indicated measures. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

 Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. 
 Make sure the program source selector on the amplifier is set to the proper source.
 Turn up the volume on the amplifier properly.
 Turn LEVEL on the subwoofer clockwise to increase the volume.
 Check if headphones are connected to the amplifier. If they are, disconnect them.

 Check if any sound-enhancing functions have been activated on the amplifier. If 

they have, turn them off.

 Set the CUT OFF FREQ as high as possible when playing back the Dolby Digital 

source.

 If the sound distorts when you turn on the bass reinforcement from your amplifier 

(such as DBFB, GROOVE, the graphic equalizer, etc.), turn down the bass 

reinforcement and adjust the level.

 Make sure all the connections have been correctly made.
 Move your audio components away from the TV.
 Make sure the volume level of the subwoofer is not turned up to maximum as 

extraneous noise may be output. Turn LEVEL on the subwoofer counterclockwise 

to decrease the volume.

 Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. Contact between bare 

speaker wires at the speaker terminals may cause a short circuit.

 Reposition the speakers or turn down the volume on the amplifier.

 Aucun retardateur de flamme halogéné n’est utilisé dans certaines cartes à circuits 

imprimés.

Pour éviter tout risque d’incendie, ne couvrez pas les ailettes de ventilation de cet 

appareil avec des papiers journaux, des nappes, des rideaux, etc. Ne placez de sources 

de flammes nues telles que des bougies allumées sur l’appareil.

Pour éviter tout risque d’incendie ou de choc électrique, n’exposez pas l’appareil à des 

gouttelettes ou à des éclaboussures et ne posez pa d’objets contenant du liquide, comme 

des vases, sur l’appareil.

Pour éviter les blessures, cet appareil doit être fermement fixé au sol/mur, 

conformément aux instructions d’installation.

N’installez pas l’appareil dans un espace confiné, tel qu’une bibliothèque ou un meuble 

encastré.

L’appareil n’est pas débranché de la source d’alimentation secteur tant qu’il reste 

raccordé à la prise secteur, même s’il est éteint.

La fiche principale étant utilisée pour débrancher l’appareil de la source d’alimentation 

secteur, raccordez l’appareil sur une prise secteur facilement accessible. Si vous 

constatez que l’appareil ne fonctionne pas normalement, débranchez immédiatement 

la fiche principale de la prise secteur.

La plaque signalétique est placée au dos, à l’extérieur.

L’interrupteur d’alimentation se trouve au dos à l’extérieur.

Sécurité
 Avant d’utiliser le caisson de graves, vérifiez que sa tension de fonctionnement 

correspond à celle du secteur.

 Si vous ne prévoyez pas d’utiliser le caisson de graves pendant une période prolongée, 

débranchez-le de la prise murale. Pour débrancher le cordon d’alimentation, tenez-le 

par la fiche. Ne tirez jamais sur le cordon proprement dit.

 Si un objet ou un liquide pénètre dans le caisson de graves, débranchez ce dernier et 

faites-le vérifier par un technicien qualifié avant de le réutiliser.

 Le cordon d’alimentation secteur ne doit être remplacé que dans un centre de service 

après-vente qualifié.

Utilisation
 Ne soumettez pas le système d’enceintes à une puissance en watts supérieure à la 

puissance d’entrée maximum du système.

 Si la polarité des raccordements d’enceintes est incorrecte, la tonalité des graves sera 

faible et la position des différents instruments obscure.

 Avant de procéder aux raccordements, éteignez l’ampli-tuner afin d’éviter 

d’endommager le système d’enceintes.

 La grille des enceintes ne peut pas être retirée. N’essayez pas de retirer la grille posée 

sur le système d’enceintes. Vous risqueriez d’endommager les enceintes.

 Le niveau du volume ne doit pas être augmenté jusqu’au point de distorsion.
Lieu d’installation
 N’installez pas les enceintes en position inclinée.
 Ne placez pas les enceintes à des emplacements :

— extrêmement chauds ou froids ;

— poussiéreux ou sales ;

— très humides ;

— soumis à des vibrations ;

— exposés aux rayons directs du soleil.
 Prenez garde lorsque vous placez l’enceinte sur un sol ayant subi un traitement 

spécial (cire, huile, polish, etc.), car sa surface risque de se tâcher ou de se décolorer.

 Veillez à éviter tout risque de blessures aux angles du caisson de graves.
Nettoyage
 Nettoyez le boîtier des enceintes avec un chiffon doux légèrement imbibé d’une 

solution détergente douce ou d’eau. N’utilisez pas de tampons abrasifs, de poudres à 

récurer ou de solvants, tels que de l’alcool ou de l’essence.

 En cas de taches d’huile ou de doigts, soufflez sur la surface et nettoyez-la avec un 

chiffon doux sec.

En cas de problème avec votre système d’enceintes, consultez la liste suivante et 

procédez comme indiqué. Si le problème persiste, consultez votre revendeur Sony le 

plus proche.

 Vérifiez que tous les raccordements ont été correctement effectués. 
 Vérifiez que le sélecteur de source d’émission sur l’ampli-tuner est réglé sur la 

source appropriée.

 Augmentez le volume sur l’ampli-tuner comme approprié.
 Tournez LEVEL sur le caisson de graves dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre 

pour augmenter le volume.

 Vérifiez si le casque est raccordé à l’ampli-tuner. Si l’est, débranchez-le.

 Vérifiez si la moindre fonction d’amélioration du son a été activée sur l’ampli-

tuner. Si c’est le cas, désactivez-la.

 Réglez CUT OFF FREQ sur le niveau le plus élevé possible pendant la lecture de la 

source Dolby Digital.

 Si le son est déformé lorsque vous activez le renforcement des graves à partir de 

l’ampli-tuner (par exemple, DBFB, GROOVE, l’égaliseur graphique, etc.), baissez 

le renforcement des graves et ajustez le niveau.

 Vérifiez que tous les raccordements ont été correctement effectués.
 Éloignez vos appareils audio du téléviseur.
 Vérifiez que le niveau du volume du caisson de graves n’est pas réglé sur le 

maximum, car des bruits étranges peuvent alors en résulter. Tournez LEVEL sur le 

caisson de graves dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d’une montre pour baisser le 

volume.

 Vérifiez que tous les raccordements ont été correctement effectués. Un contact 

entre les fils nus des enceintes au niveau des bornes d’enceintes peut provoquer un 

court-circuit.

 Repositionnez les enceintes ou baisser le volume sur l’ampli-tuner.
