Self-diagnosis Function
(When letters/numbers appear in the
display)
When the self-diagnosis function is
activated to prevent the system from
malfunctioning. In this case a five-character
service number (e.g., C 13 00) with a
combination of a letter and digits appears on
the screen (Some numbers also appear in the
front panel display).
Refer to the following table.

Action
The disc is dirty.
, Clean the disc with a soft
cloth (page 9).
The disc is not inserted
correctly.
, Re-insert the disc
correctly.
The tuner is not connected

, Check that it is connected
correctly.
To prevent a malfunction, the
system has performed the self-
diagnosis function.
, Contact your nearest Sony
dealer or local authorized
Sony service facility and
give the 5-character
service number.

The system does not operate
properly.
, If static electricity, etc., causes the system to
operate abnormally, press ! on the
subwoofer to turn the system off and then on
again.
Subwoofer's foot light is not lit/dim/
bright.
, Adjust the brightness using the FOOT LIGHT
swich on the rear panel of the subwoofer
(page 68).
Front panel display is dim.
, Press DIMMER on the remote to adjust the
brightness (page 67).
Nothing is displayed in the front
panel display.
, The system is in standby mode (page 37).
A 5-character service number is
displayed on the screen. (Some
numbers also appear in the front
panel display.)
, The self-diagnosis function is activated (See
the table on page 77).
A disc cannot be ejected and
“LOCKED” appears in the front panel
display.
, Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized
Sony service facility.
"ERROR" appears in the front panel
display, and the backlight of the front
panel blinks on and off.
, The speaker protection circuit is activated.
Check the speaker connections.
