5: Preparing the receiver 
and the remote
Connect the AC power cord to a wall outlet.
Notes
• Install this system so that the power cord can be 
unplugged from the wall socket immediately in the 
event of trouble.
• The AC OUTLET on the rear of the receiver is a 
switched outlet, which supplies power to the 
connected component only while the receiver is 
turned on.
• Make sure that the total power consumption of the 
component connected to the receiver’s AC 
OUTLET does not exceed the wattage stated on the 
rear panel. Do not connect high-wattage electrical 
home appliances such as electric iron, fan, or TV to 
this outlet. This may cause a malfunction.
Before using the receiver for the first time, 
initialize the receiver by performing the 
following procedure. This procedure can also 
be used to return settings you have made to 
their factory defaults. 
Be sure to use the buttons on the receiver for 
this operation.

Press ?/1 to turn off the 
receiver.

Hold down ?/1 for 5 seconds.
After “CLEARING” appears on the 
display for a while, “CLEARED” 
appears.
The following items are reset to their 
factory settings.
• All settings for the speaker system and 
sound adjustment.
• The sound field memorized for each 
input and preset station.
• All sound field parameters.
• All preset stations.
• MASTER VOLUME is set to “VOL 
MIN”.
• Input is set to “DVD”.
