Subject:
Countermeasure for play in the Rotary Encoder Shaft.
Symptom:
There customer complains of “play” or looseness in the Master
Volume shaft.
Solution:
An updated rotary Encoder is available.
• The improved rotary encoder included the following two items for reducing the
play between the Shaft and the bearing:
1) The width of the bearing section is changed to 7mm from 4mm to increase
bearing area of the Rotary Encoder.
2) A frame emboss was added to shorten the gap between the shaft and the
frame. (Convex 0.1 mm)
• Modification Procedure:
1) Remove 9 screws on the side and rear of the Top Cover, and remove the Top
Cover. (Refer to the Fig. 1.)
2) Remove the 8 screws that are fixing Front Panel to Chassis, remove 5
Connectors, and remove the Front Panel Assembly from the unit. (Fig. 2)
3) Remove the MASTER VOLUME Knob and SELECT Knob. Remove 15
screws and two nuts that are fixing the Display P. W. Board.
4) Replace the Rotary Encoders. (Refer to the Service Manual VEC301, 302.)
