TV reception worsens after 
connecting the unit.
≥This can occur because the signals are being divided between the unit and other equipment. 
It can be solved by using a signal booster, available from audio-visual suppliers.
The images from this unit do 
not appear on the TV.
Picture is distorted.
≥Make sure that the TV is connected to the VIDEO OUT terminal, S-VIDEO OUT terminal or 
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT terminals on this unit.
≥Make sure that the TV’s input setting (e.g., VIDEO 1) is correct.
≥The TV isn’t compatible with progressive signals. Press and hold [∫, STOP] and 
[
“ DVD, DUBBING] on DVD of the main unit at the same time for about 5 seconds. The 
setting will change to interlace.

Timer recording does not work 
properly.
VCR Plus
_ system does not 
work properly.
≥When connected to cable TV box or satellite receiver, the VCR Plus_ system does not work.
≥The timer program is incorrect or different timer program times overlap. Correct the program.
≥The clock is not correct. Set the clock.
≥Correct the guide channels with “VCR Plus_ CH Setting” in the SETUP menu.
≥The same guide channel is set to 2 or more channel positions. Set the guide channel correctly 
or delete unnecessary channels.
≥Timer recording will not be activated during formatting, transfer (dubbing) and other such 
operations which should not be interrupted when they are being carried out.
Timer recording does not stop 
even when [
, STOP] is 
pressed.
≥Press [∫, STOP] and then [ENTER] within 5 seconds to turn “
” off. Recording stops.
The timer program remains 
even after recording finishes.
≥The timer program remains if set to daily or weekly.
Cannot transfer (dub) VHS to a 
disc.
≥“TP” channel is not selected when recording from a video tape to a disc.
≥Some video tapes on the market (including rental videos) are copy-guarded to prevent illegal 
reproductions. Copy-guarded video tapes cannot be properly recorded.
Cannot record video or sound 
from a disc.
≥“DC” channel is not selected when recording from a disc to a video tape.
≥Most DVDs on the market (including rental DVDs) are copy-guarded to prevent illegal 
reproductions. Copy-guarded DVDs cannot be properly recorded.
The sound level after editing is 
not equal on DVD and on VHS.
≥The sound level on DVD and VHS may not match depending on the disc. When the sound 
level in a particular part of the sound source is soft or loud, the sound may be recorded loudly 
or softly on a video tape.
Strip-shaped black noise is 
recorded.
≥The device in playback is interfered with by the TV because the device is too close to the TV. 
Move the device away from the TV.
Cannot record video or sound 
from the external device.
≥The external device is not correctly connected.
≥The proper external input channel (L1 or L2) is not selected.
