Jack-up the motorcycle t o  raise the front wheel 

off 

the 

ground. 

Position the steering stem straight  ahead. 
Hook a spring scale t o  the fork  pipe and measure the 

steering  head bearing pre-load. 

The pre-load should be within

If 

the readings  do not fall within the limits,  lower the 

front  wheel  t o   the  ground  and  adjust  the  steering 

bearing adjusting nut.
