PLEASE study these instructions carefully before beginning this installation. Most installations can be accomplished with
common tools and procedures. However, you should be familiar with and comfortable working on your vehicle. If you do

DESCRIPTION: Edelbrock Valve Spring Seat Locator/Seal Kit #5766 is a replacement parts kit designed for use with a
variety of Cylinder Heads utilizing 8mm valves combined with 1.30” beehive-style springs, including: 61939, 61949,
61969, 51259, 51309, 51319, and others.. The #5766 kit is designed for use with the #5768 beehive-style valve springs
that are standard equipment for several of these cylinder heads. Although the intake and exhaust springs are identical,
the seats are different. The seats with the black oil seal will be used under the intake springs, while the seats with the
red seal will be used under the exhaust springs. Both seats have an OD of 1.200” and will accept a valve spring with a
minimum ID of .785”.

1.) Clean and inspect the area of the cylinder head that the locator will be seated upon. Any debris
trapped in this area could cause an improper valve adjustement.
2.) Coat the oil seal of the seat with engine oil prior to installing the valve. Verify that the oil seal has a
small spring in place to maintain firm tension against the valve stem.
3.) Install the locators with the black seal on the intake valve guide, and the locators with the red seal on
the exhaust guide.
4.) Check the installed height of the spring before beginning final valve adjustment.
CAUTION: Valve guide diameter and installed height are critical for the correct fitting of these seals.
Guide OD: .500” Installed height: .675” - .700”
