Important
• Read these instructions carefully in conjunction with the illustrations before using the
appliance for the first time. Keep these instructions for future reference.
• Do not use this appliance to heat or boil liquids other than water.
• This kettle has a safety cut-out which protects it against overheating due to operation with
insufficient water. If the kettle ever runs dry, switch it off and allow 10 minutes to cool
down, then refill with cold water. The safety cut-out will automatically reset. Subsequently
you can switch the kettle on again.
• Place the base unit of the kettle on a cool and firm, level surface.
• Never immerse the kettle or the base unit in water.
• If the kettle is tipped back too far, water will spill through the back cover. Though the kettle
will still be electrically safe, extra care must be taken if it contains hot or boiling water.
• WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled there is a risk that boiling water will be ejected from the
spout.
• Prevent children from pulling the mains cord. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the
work surface.
• Pour away the very first water boiled. The kettle is then ready for use.
• The kettle must only be used with the base unit supplied.
• Do not touch the heating element while it is hot.
• If the supply cord becomes damaged, it must only be replaced by an authorised Philips
service representative as special tools and/or parts are required.
