Infrared Communication
The infrared port of this unit can be used to exchange data with another CASSIOPEIA,
or with another device equipped with infrared communication capabilities. Remember
that the two infrared ports must be pointed directly at each other when performing
communication. The distance between the two infrared ports must be less than 20 cm.
See the Pocket PC User’s Guide for full details on performing infrared communication.
For infrared data communication with another device, the other device must conform
with IrDA 1.2 standards, and it must specifically support infrared data communication
with a CASSIOPEIA.
Important
• Take care so either of the units does not move while infrared data communication are
in progress.
• Infrared data communication may be impossible under strong sunlight or inverter
type fluorescent lighting.
• Infrared data communication problems can be caused by the distance between the
two ports, the angle between the two ports, outdoor sunlight, and low batteries.
• Dirt and dust on the infrared port surface can cause communication errors and other
problems. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the port clean of dirt and dust.
Using a CompactFlash Card
Your CASSIOPEIA supports Type I and Type II CompactFlash Cards (3.3V).
The following describes the types of CompactFlash card you can use with your
CASSIOPEIA.
Storage Card
A storage card functions the same as the CASSIOPEIA’s data storage memory. You can
use a storage card to store the various files created by your CASSIOPEIA, and you can
even install programs on a storage card. Data you store on a storage card is retained
even when you remove the card from your CASSIOPEIA, which means a card can be
used to port data between your CASSIOPEIA and computer or other device, or to keep
backup copies of important data.
Modem Card
A modem card lets you connect to a telephone line (standard household modular jack,
public telephone with modular jack, etc.) for modem data communications.
