Appendix F
Windows XP Look and Feel
Introduction
In a Windows XP environment, the appearance of the VRS Interactive Viewer is
controlled by a manifest file, which is used to enable the Windows XP “look and feel.”
The availability of the Windows XP look and feel in VRS is dependent upon the
naming convention for the manifest file: the manifest file name must correspond to
the name of the executable file for your scanning application. For example, the
manifest file must be named “XYZ.exe.manifest” if the name of the executable file for
your scanning application is “XYZ.exe.”
If you notice that the Windows XP look and feel is not in effect when you open the
VRS Interactive Viewer, you can use the procedure in this appendix to verify or
update the manifest file name.
Note
The availability of VRS functionality and features is not affected by the
activation of the Windows XP look and feel in the VRS Interactive Viewer.
To enable the Windows XP look and feel in VRS

Locate the manifest file in your VRS installation. The path is typically similar
to the following:
c:\Program Files\Kofax\Imgctls\Bin\vcdem32p.exe.manifest
2
Copy “VCDEM32P.exe.manifest” to the installation directory for your
scanning application.
Note
By default, the manifest file is named

“VCDEM32P.exe.manifest” to
correspond to the name of the VCDemo demonstration scanning application,
which is included in every VRS installation.
3
Rename “VCDEM32P.exe.manifest” to correspond to the name of the
executable file for your scanning application. For example, if “XYZ.exe” is the
